 Without water you cannot live; water is essential to all life. Your body is comprised mostly of water depending on sex, age and size. Staying hydrated throughout the day can be challenging so here are my top tips for staying hydrated:

  • Upon rising in the morning drink 8 fluid ounces of water (equivalent to a cup or half a pint) with lemon juice and a pinch of sea salt

  • Drink water at regular intervals throughout the day

  • Drink a glass of water before each meal, to aid digestion and make you feel fuller

  • Add fresh fruit slices (strawberries, blueberries, lime), vegetable slices (cucumbers) or herbs (mint, ginger). By adding fruit, vegetables or herbs to your water, it will transport water right down to cellular level

  • Buy yourself a water bottle to measure how much water you are drinking in a day. There are all sorts of bottles to choose from, that come in different sizes, materials and colours.   • Eat foods with a high water content like watermelon or cucumbers. Drinking a plant-based smoothie made with these high water foods will hydrate the body better than bottled water.

  • Add chia seeds to your water. Chia seeds are rich in omega 3s. Fatty acids help move the water into the cells. Chia has 10 grams fibre per oz (approx. 26g), which helps to keep you to stay hydrated for longer
